Lou & Co. - The Fool cassette

Lead by deep friend of the label Louis Cohen, this freeform take on the American Songbook is an engaged, improv-loving journey through the musical worlds of Cohen’s jazz guitar upbringing and reverence for pop chamber music a la Bacharach and Sinatra.

The album was made by a fam of collaborators from Louis’ other bands Total Heat and GROOP, as well as featured musicians from Hoover III, Prettiest Eyes, Girlpool, and more.

Recorded almost entirely live, The Fool focuses on lyricism and subtlety. The live band features an all star cast made up of Ross Chait (Total Heat, Okkervil River, Girl Pool) on percussion and tape loops, Paco Casanova (Prettiest Eyes, CFM) on keys, Sivan Silver-Swartz (Total Heat) on outsider lead guitar, and Bert Hoover (Hooveriii, Groop) on bass, and features Emelia Austin (Gal Pal), James Novick (Slo Heat), Anna Wallace, and Aimee Neimann as special features. The Fool was mixed and recorded by Mark Rains at the Station House in LA and mastered by Kern Haug.
